Radar Exposes Mercury's Interior

Ground-based radar suggests that Mercury must have a liquid (outer) core, which fits with the observations of Mercury's magnetic field. Implies that there is another element mixed in with iron in the core to lower its melting point, sulphur perhaps.

Is it me, or is the article referring to the Messenger craft in the future tense, even though it's already there and the time stamp shows this year?
