| The Planetary System to KIC 11442793: A Compact Analogue to the Solar System http://arxiv.org/abs/1310.6248 - Quote :
- We announce the discovery of 7 transiting planets around a Kepler target, a current record for transiting systems. Planets b, c, e and f are reported for the first time in this work. Planets d, g and h were previously reported in the literature (Batalha et al. 2013), although here we revise their orbital parameters and confirm their planetary nature. Planets h and g are gas giants and show strong dynamical interactions. The orbit of planet g is perturbed in such way that its orbital period changes by 25.7h between two consecutive transits during the length of the observations, which is the largest such perturbation found so far. The rest of the planets also show mutual interactions: planets d, e and f are super-Earths close to a mean motion resonance chain (2:3:4), and planets b and c, with sizes below 2 Earth radii, are within 0.5% of the 4:5 mean motion resonance. This complex system presents some similarities to our Solar System, with small planets in inner orbits and gas giants in outer orbits. It is, however, more compact. The outer planet has an orbital distance around 1 AU, and the relative position of the gas giants is opposite to that of Jupiter and Saturn, which is closer to the expected result of planet formation theories. The dynamical interactions between planets are also much richer.

| Nice. Why don't you add some "Extasolar Visions artwork" too? | |

| Nice to see an independent confirmation of this system. (Also detected by Planet Hunters) | |

Some artwork made with Celestia or other software, media, etc. Like Whatmough's one: The planet's thumbnails in your website have similar quality.

| (Google translate powers, activate!)Hey, that's a nice writeup you got there. Conveys the key information from both papers rather well, I'd say. It's interesting to note that KOI-351 has been on the HARPS-N KOI target list for both seasons. The star is very faint (Kepler V = 13.8 mag), but at least the two outermost planets should have detectable RV amplitudes, as they are approximately Saturn and Jupiter-sized. | |

| Well ,considering density of planets in kepler 30 system it will not be easy to detect signal of planet with 210 days but I hope.I would not rule out any signal of planet b,c as they are rather dense and very close to host star.Similarity to solar system is exagerrated as in solar system is not any super earth and larger giant is closer than smaller ,besides they revolve much farther out | |

| The exomoon candidate at Kepler-90g is indeed a false positive. http://arxiv.org/abs/1411.7028Interesting that they use Kepler-90g.01 to refer to the moon. I wonder how much this naming convention will hold up. _________________ Caps Lock: Cruise control for 'Cool'!

| It's a candidate number. The best naming convention for moons is the solar system's one: roman numbers. _________________ | |

| A 1.88 RE moon would certainly have been interesting for the moon-formation theories to explain, though presumably the first exomoon detections will be of rather "extreme" systems. | |

| I would not be surprised if the transit of the false moon is super earth with long period 5-6 years | |

| I would, because the duration of the event is visibly similar to the duration of g's transit, and transit duration is proportional to the angular velocity of the transiting body (which is, in turn, proportional to the separation between the objects at the time of transit).
As loosely concluded by the paper, the "transit" does not appear to be a physical event in the system, but more rather an instrumental effect (because all of the CCD pixels show changes in flux intensity during the event, rather than the ones around the star as expected).

| I meant high impact parameter long period planet but if it is instrumental efect ok we find any moon someday Ring system is ruled out also just ask ? | |

| Weird that the NASA catalogue treats Kepler-90f and KOI-351.07 as separate objects, judging by orbital periods they appear to be the same. | |

- Great to see independent Kepler data analysis. In case you are wondering the NASA Kepler pipeline was going to find kepler 90i with period 14.4485, but after finding 7 planets hit a preset timeout and stopped the search early. bad luck for us. More great data for others.
