Here's a good outline of the proposed K2 mission.

300 ppm precision (down from 30 ppm)
Fewer stars: 10,000 to 20,000.
Shorter duration: 70-80 days per field.
But we'll get to detect short planets around bright stars and determine the frequency of such planets in several spots on the sky.

Not yet as far as discoveries go, but the data from the first run is publicly available. We've got a thread for monitoring the progress here:
