| http://arxiv.org/abs/1407.0251The GAPS programme with HARPS-N@TNG IV: A planetary system around XO-2S We performed an intensive radial velocity monitoring of XO-2S, the wide companion of the transiting planet-host XO-2N, using HARPS-N at TNG in the framework of the GAPS programme. The radial velocity measurements indicate the presence of a new planetary system formed by a planet that is slightly more massive than Jupiter at 0.48 au and a Saturn-mass planet at 0.13 au. Both planetary orbits are moderately eccentric and were found to be dynamically stable. There are also indications of a long-term trend in the radial velocities. This is the first confirmed case of a wide binary whose components both host planets, one of which is transiting, which makes the XO-2 system a unique laboratory for understanding the diversity of planetary systems.

| The second binary with planets orbiting both components after HD 20782/20781, right?
Interesting that both planets are in the inter-population desert. Also interesting that both stars have RV trends - perhaps XO-2 could have the most giant planets in a single system (though this is stretching the rules)?

| There is one Kepler system with at least one planet around each star. _________________ | |

| So, cognac with a side-helping of niobium, antimony and scandium then...
As the paper notes, Kepler-132 (KOI-284) has planets around two different stars, though it is not known which star hosts which candidates (the two ~6-day planets cannot orbit the same star due to stability constraints).
IIRC the maximum number of giant planets in a single system so far is four (HR 8799, ups And, HD 141399), no?

| Yes (55 Cnc as well). But if XO-2S's RV drift is a third planet, then that with XO-2N's two planets makes the system a five-planet system. _________________ Caps Lock: Cruise control for 'Cool'!

| I was mentioning it as another example of a system with four giant planets. _________________ Caps Lock: Cruise control for 'Cool'!

Well, we all wish it has. Perhaps some bunch of super-Earths or Neptune-mass planets around B...

Perhaps some bunch of super-Earths or Neptune-mass planets around B... well my hope is for Earth-size and Mass planets, when they don't detect a super-earth in HZ around of red dwarf I feel more relieve, because there is hope to detect a earth-size and mass in HZ region with more precise future Instruments.

| Yep, and with SPHERE and Gaïa we enter may be in the golden age of long period planets _________________ | |

| Damasso et al. "The GAPS Programme with HARPS-N@TNG V. A comprehensive analysis of the XO-2 stellar and planetary systems" http://arxiv.org/abs/1501.01424There appears to have been a turnover in the radial velocity drift of XO-2N. The long-period RV variation is consistent with being due to a stellar activity cycle. | |
