The K0III-IV giant HD 81688 is listed as star 41 Lyncis.

But star is not listed at SIMBAD neither elsewhere, nor as disused star designation.

Huh, that's odd. According to the Wikipedia article, the star is in Ursae Majoris. Perhaps it lost its Lyn designation because of this.

I'm stumped .

Well it isn't just Wikipedia claiming it. Run a Google search on 41 Lyn and you get lots and lots of sources claiming it. Though, they may have simply got it from Wikipedia.

Many Wikipedia articles are often unvisited for long periods of time and end up accumulating random "information" of dubious or uncertain origin. As an ex-Wikipedian, I advise you to go check out the Astronomical Objects WikiProject and ask for help there.
