| Since the confirmation of Earth sized candidates still appears unpraticable with RV measurements, it's better working on the statistical validation of these planets: http://nexsci.caltech.edu/workshop/2012/talks/Fressin-Sagan2012.pdfBlender, with a few supporting followup observations, seems to be able to do the job. The last slide is very interesting, showing that a sub-Earth sized candidate has a 3 times reduction of allowed false positive scenarios by doubling the timelines of observations. The Kepler extension would help to decisively validate many interesting candidates. | |
