| Close Binaries with Infrared Excess: Destroyers of Worlds?Suggests that the evolution of close binaries thanks to magnetic braking or tidal forces can destabilise the planetary systems around these stars, via the changing locations of various resonances in the system. This might explain the large number of RS Canum Venaticorum-type systems with infrared excess, and the BD+20 307 system, which are systems that have large amounts of dust despite having ages of the order of gigayears. | |
