Mass of 55 Cnc A? Empty
PostSubject: Mass of 55 Cnc A?   Mass of 55 Cnc A? Empty7th September 2008, 5:10 pm

The Extrasolar Planets Encyclopedia lists the mass of 55 Cancri A as 1.03 solar masses. But if you calculate the mass of the star using the parameters of the planet's orbits, you 0.94 solar masses. The only exception to this is 55 Cnc e, whose orbital parameters suggest a mass of 0.92 solar masses.

The discovery paper for the fifth planet adopts a mass of 0.94 solar. The reason for the discrepancy in the mass derived from the orbits appears to be rounding error.
