| Search For Extrasolar Planets with High-Magnification Microlensing Events Link - Abstract wrote:
- Gravitational microlensing is a unique tool in exploring the demography of extrasolar planets. The technique is most efficient in finding planets that are ~1-5 AU from the parent stars, which is the region close to and beyond the "snow line". Microlensing traces the mass, rather than the light, of the lens, so it probes planets around host stars that are mostly on the lower main sequence as well as stellar remnants, ranging from ~1 to ~8kpc toward the Galactic bulge. Microlensing Follow-Up Network (MicroFUN) is a collaboration of professional and amateur astronomers, aiming to discover planets from round-of-clock monitoring High-Magnification microlensing Events (HMEs). Every year, the network densely covers about a dozen such events, with peak magnification A_max from 50 to a few hundreds even up to a couple of thousands. These events prove to be exceptionally effective in discovering planets with a variety of masses at a wide range of separations from the host stars. In particular, the Extreme HMEs (with A_max > 500) are sensitive to any Jupiter-mass planets at separations from a fraction of an AU to ~10 AU, and have substantial sensitivity to Earth-mass planets at several AU. One major challenge is to uniquely and promptly model these events. I will discuss our efforts to overcome this computational problem. I will report the discoveries of ~10 extrasolar planets (including planetary systems) from the last 4 years of MicroFUN operations. Finally, I will discuss the implications of these discoveries for extrasolar planet populations and planet formation theories.

| Also there's an interesting title in the EPE bibliography list which suggests orbital parameters have been determined for a planet discovered by microlensing. No way to tell whether this refers to OGLE-2006-BLG-109Lc for which some parameters are known, or another planet. | |

Given that it is listed on the Extrasolar Planets Encyclopaedia's OGLE-2006-BLG-109L page I think that solves that mystery... | |
