| Worth watching that one all the way through. Particularly regarding Gliese Not Revealed Yet, apparently they've got a nearby potentially-habitable planet... | |

And its planet was discovered by Vogt et al at Lick, too. Gliese 436 is an interesting system and that may have earned it enough RV observations to allow for Lick to detect a low-mass planet. _________________ Caps Lock: Cruise control for 'Cool'!

| Interesting paper on 61 Vir dynamics Aligned Major Axes in a Planetary System without Tidal Evolution: The 61 Virginis example http://arxiv.org/abs/1108.5369 - Quote :
- Tidal damping of one of the orbits in a planetary system can lead to aligned major-axes (the so-called "fixed-point" condition), but currently aligned major axes do not necessarily imply such a history. An example is the nominal orbital solution for the 61 Virginis system where two orbits librate about alignment, but evaluation of the eigenmodes of the secular theory shows it could not be the result of tidal damping but rather of initial conditions. Nevertheless, the amplitudes of the eigenmodes suggest that this system may have undergone some degree of tidal damping.

| Weird thing. EPE currently lists 604 exoplanets but apparently there is no planet removed. On the contrary http://exoplanet.eu/star.php?st=HD+1461There are now four planets with "d" and "e" labelled as unconfirmed, and a planet "c" not labelled. Does it imply a confirmation? | |

| Yeah it looks very weird. When planet c with 0.11 AU was confirmed discovered ? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HD_1461 ??http://exoplanet.eu/star.php?st=HD+1461?? somebody knows sth ?

| If this is confirmation of new planet(super earth 5.9 earth mass) around HD 1461 I was right thinking about this system | |

| The new planet c is one of the planets published today. _________________ The universe is not only stranger than we imagine, it is stranger than we can imagine.

| Looks like this HD 1461 c is a new planet candidate, the original unconfirmed planet "c" us now renamed to "e"... will be interesting to see how this one works out, wonder if the HARPS data is able to refute these candidates or not... | |

| In this paper, we find that Spitzer was used to search for transits of the planet, but none were found. They probability a transit was missed is 0.14%. They also comment on the RV dataset and solutions for the planet fits. They find three signals at 5.77, 13.5 and 377 days, as well as "a fourth low-frequency signal," but the 377 day signal is caused by a systemic effect from combining datasets. _________________ Caps Lock: Cruise control for 'Cool'!
