| I would argue for caution. Until some more official news outlets begin running the story, there's no reason to believe it's anything other than the hype machine.

Phil Plait talks about terrestrial contamination, as demonstrated by Hoover in his paper, that due to the nitrogen level these are fossilized bacterias with an age greater than 8My. Unless the meteorites came from a piece of the earth ejected billions of years ago and falling back again, his arguments are solid. The source of the meteorites can possibly be determined by the isotope balance in the different materials, or at least could eliminate the earth as a source | |
