I think you'll find the majority of people on this board are supportive of the current exoplanet nomenclature.

(Moved to a more appropriate subforum)

Indeed.

And we know nothing about Fomalhaut b. Planet with rings, ice giant, gas giant? Dwarf planets colision? I just know that it's surrounded by dust and crosse the disc in projection, not enough to give a name. I let the discoverers to give an unoficial "name" to planets like Belerophon, Osiris or even Twopiter and Zarmina. For a real name we need to know better the planet.

I surmise the following from the planet's known information:
ice giant (mass is 3x jupiter)
Has rings (in the middle of asteroid belt)

I am sorry if you do not like the idea i came up with, i thought it would be nice to do. Sad

That information is not actually known, it's just one explanation to the observations out of many (and the 3 MJ mass is just an upper limit).

Like Stars,It's doesn't make sense put name on extrasolar planets, they already have name in the catalog follow with the low case letter of the star catalog number, only our galaxy is full of planets probably with trillions of them, there is not point put names like mythological of our solar system planets
