| Assuming Vega is around 200 million years old, I think any kind of world orbiting the bright star would appear highly active with lots of rifts and volcans and water present as vapour in the atmosphere only. It's just my thought | |

| As Edasich and I have pointed out already, adding Mie to your planets would make them look a lot more realistic. It's simple copy/paste to take the mie parameters for Earth and splatch them onto your planet orbiting Vega.
Though it may be that your computer isn't capable of supporting this. Look at the first page of this thread where I have several images of Earth both with and without Mie. Are you capable of getting the appearance of Earth with Mie (i.e. the enhanced atmospheric scattering)? If not, what version of Celestia are you using? _________________ Caps Lock: Cruise control for 'Cool'!

| I copied the Mei from Earth and put it on my Vega planet. But I don't see much difference. I use Version 1.5.1. Why do you ask? OMFG!!! I had no idea that Celestia 1.6.0 was out already!!!! Hooray!! Here is the a Mei version with Celestia 1.6.0. Still don't see too much difference. _________________ I'm a renegade, fear me!

| Your graphics card doesn't seem to support Mie rendering then. A shame, as it really enhances the appearance of a planet in Celestia. _________________ Caps Lock: Cruise control for 'Cool'!

Shame. But in my opinion, I really don't care. The planets I see are amazing to me either way. _________________ I'm a renegade, fear me!

| Maybe you should try launching Celestia, select and go to the planetary object you wish and then press "Ctrl+V" (alike the "paste" function) one or more times to enable "Multitexture" and "Open GL.02" options. This should unlock the "Mie" and the "multiple texture" tags. Let me know if it works, NuclearVacuum. | |

Let me know if it works, NuclearVacuum. When I do this, the three settings are "basic," "multitexture," and "OpenGL vector program." I didn't see "mie." _________________ I'm a renegade, fear me!

| It must not display "Mie", it just enables the mie tag in the ssc file However enable the "Open GL.02" and your planet should look even better | |

Couldn't I download Open GL.02? _________________ I'm a renegade, fear me!

| The moon orbiting Stalin is apparently massive enough to pull itself into a sphere. This should mean it has enough gravity to disrupt the rings of the planet. Have you considered using an asteroid mesh? - NuclearVacuum wrote:

I am not very familiar with what graphics cards are capable of outside Celestia. But, I would say you're a 7 as far as Celestia is concerned. I'm a 1. My graphics card cannot even wrap the texture around the planet correctly, and any textured body drags the frame rate down to about 2-3 fps. _________________ Caps Lock: Cruise control for 'Cool'!

| Stalin? Did you know in Soviet Space stars transit in front of extrasolar planets! *LOL* Seriously, I would give you 7.5-8.0, your graphic is neat and exoplanets quite realistic But the challenge is always open and I'm gonna post something mine too in my thread | |

Have you considered using an asteroid mesh? Stalin is the moon (a moon of Iota Horologii b). Its supposed to be a sphere, it's about the size of Io. _________________ I'm a renegade, fear me!

| Yeah. With a moon that massive, it's going to disrupt the ring system pretty severely. _________________ Caps Lock: Cruise control for 'Cool'!

No matter what I try I can never seem to get my gas giants to look any good.

| I think I might have found a way around my graphics problem. Tell me what you think about this one in comparison to my others. This is my rendering of planet Gliese 581 d. The planet would be an ocean world, covered 100% in water (no land what so ever). _________________ I'm a renegade, fear me!

| I think that this planet is very... blue. The appearance shows that the planet orbits a blue star. For such a blue appearance on the planet (I know you'll say that water is supposed to be blue), the star seems to be not far from there. But there's a problem, a water planet close to a blue star is impossible. If you didn't say that it's an ocean planet, I would say that it's a blue gas giant. Plus, the atmosphere is big and extended, like a star's one.
But, arf, saying something like this is quite hard, and it causes troubles in my head. It's not easy to say it but it's not impossible that you've just created a new type of planet, maybe close to the GJ 436 b type. The more I can say is that planet is a kind of super-critical body.
