| "When the lions broke free", quoting someway Pink Floyd *lol* A little thread bump for two systems in Leo constellation: 54) Gamma1 Leonis and planet: K-giant in binary system with hot jupiter. Notice the secondary star at periastron getting as close as 10.7 AUs from star A. 55) R Leonis: Mira variable star ...with evaporating planet | |

| Wow, that's beautiful ! It will make you laugh but I think that the planet is taking a bath. But it also make me think that the cloud forms a wall in front of the planet (or a shock wave), such as the case of Mira. Can you make a pic of the planet as a observer would see above its terminator ? | |

| I don't know if this is what Sedna requested. Enjoy it anyway The host star really appears like a monster, even if the planet lies in "quasi-epistellar" orbit I was taking looking at thread visits. Gosh! More than 1,700! Thank you all, pals! | |

| Screenshots like that emphasize the need for Celestia to render light sources as something other than point-like. Much more of that planet should be illuminated than is shown in Celestia. Wouldn't a hypothetical R Leo b just kinda fall into the star anyway? - Edasich wrote:

| The red dwarf in the QS Vir system fills its Roche lobe so should be shaped like a teardrop.
For space artists, it's an unfortunate feature of both QS Vir and HW Vir that the binaries are so compact that it would be hard to make out the two stars from the vantage point of the planets.

| However bear in mind that QS Virginis is now included in the default extrasolar.ssc and extrasolar.stc files - these can be downloaded from the Celestia Subversion repository here. Personally I build my version of Celestia from source, and keep up-to-date with the latest features and datafiles. | |

Personally I build my version of Celestia from source, and keep up-to-date with the latest features and datafiles. I know, but I don't know if the extrasolar.stc files generates the binary system too. The add-on I made includes the binary, with accurate parameters (lacking only of the tidally distorted appearance you said) and my own planet texture.

It does. However it too does not contain the tidally-distorted appearance. Main difference is it is currently lacking the eccentricity information for the planetary orbit, however this is likely going to be included in the next version of the files.

| Lazarus, can the script you wrote to create contact binaries produce the necessary shape for this star? _________________ Caps Lock: Cruise control for 'Cool'!

Not without making a few modifications. Would require different bounding constraints for a start. Also the fill-out-factor used for contact binaries isn't so useful here, so would have to change a few of the parameters. Also I'm not entirely sure what the most sensible way to uv-map such a star would be.

Lazarus is actually quite familiar with that add-on, yes. He made it. Edasich, some time you should teach me how to make such amazing gas giant textures _________________ Caps Lock: Cruise control for 'Cool'!

| WASP-18b is in the latest versions of the extrasolar.ssc/.stc files found on the Celestia Subversion repository.
Also bear in mind that Celestia by default requires orbital elements to be given in the ecliptic reference frame, not the plane-of-sky reference frame used for planets. Your add-on therefore fails to produce the correct orbital inclination.
Furthermore the rotation of the planet and the orbit are not aligned, despite being synchronous. Not sure if that was your intention.
